About this King's Wharf tour
There you are. On the deck of a dive boat, awaiting your fate. Welcome to the Bermuda Triangle, where you're about to plummet into its eerie depths. This spooky pool spawned a mass of theories as vast as its alarming history of disappeared and destroyed ships, planes, and, well, people. Predatory aliens in UFOs. Remnant tech from the lost continent of Atlantis. Methane hydrates (that's "gas" to you). Magnetic quirks. Reality is more likely a lackluster-in-comparison combo of jagged reefs, violent storms, and human blunder and hubris.
Don't be misled. The truth? This so-called haunted hotspot is as lively and dazzling as dive sites come. Courtesy of the volcanic eruption that created it, this archipelago boasts among the largest, healthiest, and most impressive coral reef systems on Earth. Investigate the colorful dwellers of otherworldly marine environs, with the help of expert guides who know them by name.
Of course, these breathtaking reefs are at least partly to blame for the more than 300 ghost ships haunting local Bermudian waters, often called one of the planet's best wreck-diving locations. Here in "The Shipwreck Capital of the Atlantic Ocean," you might even explore two legendary wrecks lying side by side.
The weather and other unforeseen circumstances will determine your destiny. On this journey, sites commonly visited are Blue Hole and the Western Blue Cut, as well as the Constellation, Montana, Hermes, Ferry, and L'Herminie shipwrecks. At GoBe, we say "Experience Everywhere™." Yes, even Hell and back. But, hey, the U.S. Navy still denies its existence, so we're sure the Bermuda Triangle is just a big hoax too. (Godspeed.)
Long before the Triangle or the shorts
Bermuda has had a devilish reputation since its discovery in 1505. Sir Walter Raleigh described it as a "perilous and fearful place" and "a hellish sea for thunder, lightning, and storms." With a mounting toll of shipwrecks, treacherous conditions, and the cries of unruly birds and wild hogs, tales of evil took flight swiftly on the island, earning it the less-than-flattering nickname of "The Isle of Devils."
