About this Samana tour
Maybe you watched those old movies where a trek through a lush jungle led to a magical lagoon fed by a waterfall. And maybe, when you watched that movie, you imagined yourself swimming in that magical pool, frolicking beneath the falls.
Imagine no more, because this is better than a movie. It's real life, and it's even more spectacular that you imagined, starting with the journey itself. Mount your faithful horse for the day and amble along mountain paths and a countryside flush with flora and fauna of all kinds, passing isolated villages that seem to be from another place and time. You'll feel like an explorer discovering a whole new land.
When you arrive at Salto el Limon, the sight will take your breath away. Cascading down 120 feet into an impossible blue natural pool, it seems like something out of a fairy tale. So go ahead. Dive in and take a swim. After all, how often do you get to star in your own movie?
Vampire demon of Dominica
In the rich folklore of the Dominican Republic, the dense rainforest is rife with frightening creatures. One of the scariest is El Galipote, said to transform at will from man into animal, or even into inanimate objects like trees and stones. These cruel beings are said to suck blood and specialize in getting travelers hopelessly lost. But don't worry; they only come out at night.
Meet your driver in the Hotel Lobby of either the Bahia Principe El Portillo or Bahia Principe Cayacoa. Call the operator once you are at the designated meeting point.
The ride to the waterfall is done on horseback. Although the horses walk slowly, travelers with back problems should take this into consideration. Travelers who prefer to walk may do so.
Paths used involve mountain hiking trails that can be muddy and slippery. Must be able to walk approximately 1 mile over varying terrain.
