About this Valletta tour
Feel the rush of adrenaline as the blast of cannons reverberates through your body and immerses you into battles that took place centuries ago. Watch out! There are bombs overhead, ominously plummeting towards you. Then beware, the fierce Knights of St. John are approaching, ruthlessly swinging their swords as the siege of Malta escalates and you're drawn into the action.
This is Malta 5D: cutting-edge technology that throws you into combat the island's turbulent history. Your seat will move, mimicking the movements on the screen – whether traveling down the streets of the medieval city or soaring over the open water in a World War II bomber. An invisible touch, enticing aromas, and the cool mist of the Mediterranean will convince you that you are in medieval Malta. This vivid, interactive experience takes you from prehistoric temples to knights in bloody armor to Malta's fight for survival in World War II.
Before you engage in battle, enjoy a scenic lift ride to Barrakka Gardens, the highest point of the city's defensive walls. Dating back to 1661, the Gardens were created to give the crusader Knights of St. John a place to blow off steam. They're still a good place for that.
Sixteenth-century Valletta is actually one of the first examples of urban planning – and what they were planning for was mayhem. The city was laid out in a uniform grid with steeply sloping streets, giving Maltese knights a strong defensive advantage against possible attacks.
