About This Sharm El Sheikh Tour
First invented in the Florida Keys in 1878 as a tricked-out row boat, the glass bottom boat allows passengers to enjoy the beautiful world happening beneath the water's surface. You'll ride aboard the naval-inspired descendant of that vessel – a semi-submersible. Essentially a submarine that doesn’t go fully underwater, it makes for an even more spectacular, immersive experience.
And where better to do this than the Red Sea? After all, travelers come here from all over the world to experience off-the-charts scuba diving. Don't feel like donning a bathing suit and lowering yourself into the water? No problem. Hop aboard the submersible and let the cool winds refresh you as you ride above on the spacious deck and travel out to open waters, without getting wet.
Then get ready to head below and take a seat as the Red Sea reveals its wonders to you through large glass windows. Delight in the silent world of fish, coral, mammals, and other colorful creatures. A seawater inlet of the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea serves as an ideal environment for marine animals and coral to flourish. Such incredible biodiversity is partly due to the 1,240 miles of fringing coral reef along its coastline, and these formations are 5,000 - 7,000 years old. Wow.
After your one-hour tour, ascend back to the deck and return to port, where you'll have lasting memories of your time under the sea, just like the passengers on the glass bottom boats of yesteryear.
The world's northernmost tropical sea
Tucked between Africa and Asia, the Red Sea is home to over 1,200 species of fish, about 10% of which can only be found in its deep blue waters. Its ancient coral reefs include lagoons, platforms, and cylinders that provide a natural protective environment for marine life to thrive.
Please exit the port terminal building or go to the end of the tender pier drop-off to meet your guide. Look for our displayed logo sign. Staying at a hotel? Be sure to advise the GoBe Crew so we can meet you in the lobby.
There are approximately 5 steps to navigate when getting on and off the semi-submarine, with narrow steps to descend and ascend.
A minimal amount of walking is required. You must be able to climb up & down a short, narrow flight of steps to enter the semi-sub & navigate 3 steps from the platform to the semi-sub surface. Agility is required. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
