About this Boston, Massachusetts tour
In sharp contrast to the Spirit's modern interior are the historic (and some ironically named) sites you'll cruise by. Look, there's the USS Constitution aka Old Ironsides which is actually made of wood. Docked nearby is the USS Cassin Young, a long-retired destroyer that survived numerous kamikaze attacks during WWII. And over here is Fort Independence, situated on Castle Island (an isle that is, in fact, attached to the mainland).
Ever hear of the Big Dig? It was a $1 billion+ highway project undertaken to ease traffic woes in Boston the Big Dig. If you love bridges, you'll be treated to another engineering marvel with the Tobin Bridge which supports 85,000 vehicles daily. You also want to keep watch for the soaring spire of Old North Church, the site of McKay Shipyard, and other tweet-home-about attractions.
Hungry for more? Descend on a lavish spread showcasing fresh salads, savory entrees, plus an array of decadent desserts. Then the DJ breaks out a collection of top-40 hits so everyone will want to get up and flaunt their moves on the dance floor. Just don't be surprised if some guests slink away to stroll the open-air observation deck.
And there you are. Right at the center of it all the dramatic sites, tasty cuisine, and throng of partiers. Because it's just never been easier to get into the spirit of things as you cruise around Boston's Inner Harbor.
It's been said that a fresh-faced Edward Gerrish inadvertently triggered the Boston Massacre on March 5, 1770. Seems it all began when the wig-making apprentice called out to Captain Lieutenant John Goldfinch about his master's unpaid bill. What followed was a hair-raising riot that left five colonists dead after a squad of British soldiers fired into the crowd. Truly a tangled mess and a key event leading to the Revolutionary War.
