About this Juneau, Alaska tour
The world's largest concentration of bald eagles lives in the Tongass National Forest, and you can see their habitat just as they do. You'll fly high in the treetops surrounded by towering forest and feel the invigorating mountain breezes. Zip-lining through the wilderness is an exhilarating experience that's as close to flying as humans can get.
As you fly, your spirit will soar. This adventure takes you into the heart of the USA's largest national forest, where you'll have rare opportunities to view wildlife and breathtaking vistas of Alaska's wilderness. In fact, near the end of the trip, you'll zip over a suspension bridge and a rushing salmon spawning stream. Along the way, your GoBe guides share their love and passion for the beauty of the Tongass.
Once you've had a chance to catch your breath, roll up your sleeves and see if you have what it takes to wield an axe. Competitive axe throwing is just one of many events that Alaska's lumberjacks take on to celebrate their state's rugged history and all-important timber industry. Others include log rolling, chopping wood, and speed climbing up tall poles. But we'll be taking it easy. Throwing an axe is Lumberjack 101 and a ton of fun.
You've flown like an eagle above the trees. Soared through old-growth forest that's hundreds of years old. And seen birds-eye views of the rarest of rainforests. The Tongass is a world where thrilling moments happen. And you were here to experience them.
A 17-million-acre global gem
The Tongass National Forest is the Earth's largest intact temperate rainforest. This national treasure is also one of the most biologically diverse areas left in the United States with healthy populations of black bears, birds, wolves, moose, eagles, and salmon. Fortunately, these creatures have lots of room to roam. The Tongass is the size of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island combined.
