About this Kauai Tour
You either appreciate the calming effect of waterfalls, the water cascading down the side of a mountain with grace and beauty, or you see the utter chaos that is a waterfall. Calm waters, which turn into raging waters, bellowing over the side of a mountain into oblivion. Whatever side appeals to you, there is truly no other place on earth to see such a beautiful collection of these scientific mysteries than Hawaii.
With all the technology we have in today’s world, it still proves difficult for geologists to determine just where these random channels of water start and end. In all their glory you would never guess that they take thousands of years to form and the chances of you seeing any of those changes in your lifetime are slim.
Combine a river, flowing over bedrock that pushes softer rock downstream, eroding the harder rock until the bed of river gets steeper and steeper and voila - you have a waterfall. Of course this is the sped up version but you get the point.
Gazing out the windows on this GoBe tour you’re sure to see almost every variation of these natural wonders there is. From horsetail waterfalls (which are in constant contact with rocks and do not descend as a sheet of water), to punchbowl waterfalls (these occur when a wider river narrows and descends into a bowl of water) you will leave this experience with a new appreciation for the planet we call home. Now that you are armed with all facts about waterfalls it’s time to go see them! We hear there is a place where 3000-foot waterfalls surround you but you will have to see for yourself.
During the filming of Jurassic Park in 1992, Hurricane Iniki, the biggest hurricane in Hawaii’s known history, hit Kauai Island. Richard Attenborough, one of the main stars, reportedly slept right through it, and when queried as to how he could sleep through the noise and destruction, he referenced that compared to World War II’s London Blitz, which he also survived, a hurricane, even a powerful one, was nothing!
