As you conclude your tour of Skagway's famous Gold Rush past, you'll have the opportunity to stroll and shop along its remarkable streets. See locals dressed up in period costumes, and pretend you're a Gold Rush adventurer in 1897.
One of the biggest success stories of the Gold Rush era was Martin Itjen – who never even found gold! He struck out as a miner, and then moved on to railroading, worked as a shopkeeper, and even an undertaker, before finding his groove as the town’s unofficial tour guide. He drove a street car up and down Skagway’s roads – giving visitors the experience of a lifetime. He even gave a tour to President Warren G. Harding, and took his streetcar to Hollywood to meet starlet Mae West.
Please make your way to 270 Second Avenue.
At the end of your tour a courtesy stop is made in the Historic District for those wanting to explore or shop.
Travelers must be able to negotiate 4 steps into and out of Street Car with limited assistance. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
