About this Brisbane Tour
Brisbane is the third-biggest city in Australia and one of the country's top cultural hotspots. Not bad for a town that got its start in 1824 as a convict colony to punish the most uncooperative inhabitants of Sydney's own convict colony. In this guided motorcoach and riverboat tour, you'll see and hear how this Queensland city became Australia's New World City.
Your tour starts with a drive through Brisbane's central business district (CBD), referred to as "the city." Only two buildings remain from Brisbane's convict days, but there are plenty of other interesting architectural sights to see, including sandstone buildings. Then hop on a riverboat for a cruise around the city, where you'll see the Wheel of Brisbane, the Story Bridge, and Kangaroo Point Cliffs. While sailing along the river, tuck into a Devonshire Tea break.
You'll then get some free time at lunch to spend in South Bank Parklands, where you can dine at one of the many hip restaurants and cafes, visit a local bar, or check out some art in this hip region. You can even go for a swim at the country's only riverside inner city beach. See why over 11 million people visit this cultural mecca every single year.
Then it's back on the motorcoach for a ride to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. You're going to want to hug a koala here; that's the top attraction. But don't forget to check out the other 95 Aussie-only animals here. Then prepare to be amazed by the incredible views of the Australian coast as well as mountains at Mt. Coot-tha Lookout. What an action-packed day.
When you think of Australian food, you might think of Vegemite or shrimp on the barbie. But Devonshire Tea is also one of the most popular snacks in the country. This food is not tea, although it is often served with tea. Devonshire Tea is really scones served with jam and clotted cream or double cream. The delicacy got its start in England's town of Devon and was brought to Australia by immigrants. It is a terrific treat that will make you feel elegant and satisfied.
Please make your own way to Brisbane Transit Centre Roma Street.
