      About This Cairns Tour

Imagine the wind whipping through your hair, while you drive ATV quad bikes together past some of the best of Australian scenery. Sounds like fun, right? That's what this three-hour, all-terrain adventure offers. And the tour groups are small, to make sure you get undivided attention. What a ride.

First, a guide makes sure you are on the ATV that is most comfortable (90cc or 250cc.) Put on your helmet then get schooled on how to ride this friendly beast. After learning all the safety rules, you'll receive an introductory lesson. A guide will assess your skills to make sure you are in the right riding group alongside people of similar skill sets. But really, anybody can ride these quad bikes, so don't feel nervous.

Once astride your vehicle, you'll zip around our adventure trails and get down and dirty. But a little mud never hurt anyone. The scenery you will be zigging and zagging around is unlike anything you've seen before. You've got tropical rainforest flora and fauna, mangroves, Australian bushland, and sugar cane grasses. Amazing.

Keep an eye out for Australian animals like kangaroos, wallabies, and platypuses, as well as farm animals like sheep, sheep dogs, cattle, ducks, and chickens. And because you'll be riding on a working sugar cane farm, you'll get a sense of what such a business is like. When your tour is finished, relax with some hard-earned refreshments and let the bragging begin.

      How sweet it is

Growing sugar cane is a huge industry in Australia. Sugar is the country's second-biggest export crop, after wheat. And farmers in Queensland, the state where Cairns is located, still harvest it the old-fashioned way: they burn it. Burning the sugar cane removes leaves, weeds, and other material, and makes the cane easier to harvest. Sweet.
