      About this Cairns Tour

They say a picture's worth a thousand words. If that's the case, you're about to create your own full-length novel. Make sure you have a big enough memory card as you visit one of the most picturesque places on earth: Kuranda Rainforestation.

Your first memories will be of the Kuranda Range as you enjoy a birds-eye view en route to your destination. On the thirty-five minute ride, you'll have an opportunity to capture the beauty of the mountains and waterfalls that surround you. As amazing as this is, it's just a teaser for what's about to come.

Your guided tour will take you deep into the rainforest as you start off by foot across the timber boardwalks that will have you rubbing shoulders with crocodiles, snakes, cassowaries, kangaroos, and more. Put your camera down long enough to let us snap a shot of you cuddling a koala or holding a small crocodile. Say cheese!

Then get ready to walk like a Pamagirrian as you throw boomerangs and watch natives hurl spears and play the didgeridoo. Your Aboriginal cultural experience won't be complete until you witness a live dance performance in the amphitheater.

Your next stop is the historic Kuranda Village where you can visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, the largest flight aviary in the Southern Hemisphere. Be sure to wear bright colors, as butterflies are especially drawn to pinks, oranges, and reds.

As your journey winds down, your perspective will go up on the Skyrail Cableway. Recap all that you witnessed from a new vantage point. This is the perfect ending to a wonderful day and will make for some amazing closing pictures for your album.

      Construction with no destruction

The builders of the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway felt so strongly that the land remain intact that it was ordered that no roads be built and no cars/trucks be allowed on the land. That meant that tower footings were built by hand, and workers had to walk to their sites every day carrying equipment, which took them an hour each way. It's no wonder this is considered to be the most environmentally sensitive cableway project in the world.
