      About this Cairns Tour

Exotic. Remarkable. Mysterious. All the makings of a romance novel? Perhaps. But this adventure is better. You get to live it.

Your story begins with morning tea at the Port Douglas Wildlife Habitat followed by close encounters with Australia's native species in their natural habitats. Meet the elusive Boyd's Forest Dragon, parrots and lorikeets, the endangered Southern cassowary, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, and many more little-known creatures.

Behold the Daintree Rainforest. A World Heritage-listed site, the rainforest is believed to be one of the three oldest in the world at over a hundred million years old. She is home to some of the rarest plant and animal species in the world. She is also home to 30% of Australia's frog, marsupial, and reptile species, as well as 65% of the bat and butterfly species. Running through her heart is the Daintree River, home to an amazing assortment of wetland creatures, eager to greet you on your discovery cruise.

Along the coastline north of the river lies Cape Tribulation Beach, the only place in the world where the rainforest leads down to pristine, white sand and the edge of the sea. Take in its tranquil beauty from a quiet table at the Cape Tribulation Beach House as you enjoy a tropical lunch of local specialties.

Although the sun will set on your Daintree day of exploration, your story will never end. It continues in the memories you take away and the tales you recount about this enchanting paradise.

      Captain Cook's trials and tribulations

British navigator James Cook's discovery of this tranquil headland was far from smooth sailing. In 1770, the HM Endeavor ran up against a reef north east of the cape. The ship was badly damaged and Cook stated in his journal "the north point [was named] Cape Tribulation because here begun all our troubles." A search of the wreck in 1969 uncovered a ballast, the anchor, and six cannons, one of which is on display at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney.
