      About this Cairns Tour

Unobstructed views or underwater encounters? Here's your chance to experience the Great Barrier Reef from both perspectives. You'll thrill to larger-than-life vistas of mysterious reefs emerging from the Coral Sea's azure waters. Then enjoy a more intimate look at the world beneath the ocean's surface during a sojourn on an unspoiled cay.

The helicopter flight to and from our sandy cay destination delivers the big picture. On take off, enjoy grand views of Cairns and the coastline. During the 15-minute journey, you won't want to take your eyes off the scene below. Your pilot will make sure you get close enough to see GBR's amazing marine life. Be on the lookout for stingrays, reef sharks, sea turtles, dolphins, and, depending on the time of year, humpback whales.

After a gentle landing on an uninhabited sand cay, your pilot will help with snorkeling gear before you head out into the calm waters for a closer peek at the creatures who make the coral gardens their home. It's a mesmerizing sight, but a lavish tropical picnic is waiting, along with a refreshing Australian beer. Cheers, mate, you have found paradise!

      Wild times on the reef

As you fly over reef formations, you may wonder how coral reproduce. (No? You'll change your mind after you read more!) Most coral are hermaphrodites, producing both eggs and sperm. Their annual mass spawning (aka "sex on the reef") is one of nature's most spectacular phenomena. It looks like an underwater snowstorm as gazillions of coral release their eggs in unison. It only happens at night. Hey, even coral need privacy!
