      About This Melbourne Tour

Throw on your comfiest shoes and discover Melbourne, rated the world's most livable city by the Economist Intelligence Unit. With an entertaining guide at your side, you'll walk its storied, narrow lanes and arcades and get the lowdown on the city's quirky cafes, chill bars, trendy boutiques, and vibrant, thought-provoking street art scene.

Immerse yourself in the activity at Federation Square, home to hip eateries, exhibitions, and the multifaceted Melbourne Design Market. It's also where the city's big festivals are held. As you stroll through the labyrinth of streets and covered arcades, get a sense of what makes Melburnians tick.

Pop your head into eclectic boutiques stocked with locally made wares, all the while taking in gorgeous building facades, learning about local lore, and getting a sense of the city's culture-rich history with a local's eye for details. Consider spending time exploring Melbourne's Gold Rush-era Chinatown, the longest continuous Chinese settlement in the western world. Walk through the bustling Queen Victoria Market, or see the sobering Shrine of Remembrance, a memorial to the lives lost in the Great War of 1914-1918.

Love sports? Be sure to visit the stadium-jammed Melbourne Sports and Entertainment Precinct, considered to be Australia's premier sports district. This area played co-host to the 1956 Summer Olympics – the first to be held outside Europe and North America and the southernmost city to host the games.

Wherever your feet take you, you are sure to agree that Melbourne is a most marvelous city in this hospitable land down under.

      Watch your Mouth…

Melbourne still has some wacky laws in existence, starting with the fact that it's illegal to sing an obscene song in earshot of anyone, according to Summary Offences Act, 1666. Mind you, that's only the start. Per the Crimes Act, 1958, you cannot trade with pirates – drink with them, sure, but buying from them will get you thrown in the clink.
