About This Sydney Tour
"Go big or go home" should be the motto of Sydney because they don't do anything half way around here. With its $102 million opera house that is actually not a single venue, but multiple performing arts centers, the Sydney Opera House attracts about 1.2 million people each year for a range of performances.
Its outer facade looks like large shells and is composed of more than a million alternating glossy white and matte cream tiles. Since its completion in 1973, it's been known as one of the world's most beautiful and recognizable structures.
Speaking of Sydney's beautiful places, Bondi Beach (whose name is an Aboriginal word that means "water breaking over rocks") will take your breath away with its golden sand and turquoise blue waters. And how could we forget the ocean pools? These pools at the southern end of Bondi Beach don't just overlook the ocean, they are one with it.
You can't go anywhere in Sydney without being captivated by the iconic view of the Sydney Harbour and "the Bridge" – the tallest steel arch bridge in the world that rises 1,654 feet in the air. And from your vantage point, you'll have a bird's eye view of both the bridge and harbor in all its wonder.
Although you'll be sky high, your pilot will maneuver the plane so you won't miss a single detail of the best and biggest that Sydney has to offer.
Yo, ho, ho and a bottle of rum
In the early 1800s, before there was an official currency, Australia had a very distinct method of payment: rum. That doesn't sound so bad, you might say. But considering many workers who were paid with rum literally drank their wages, it's safe to assume that productivity was not at its peak. When the government tried to stop this form of currency, it was overthrown in what was known as the rum rebellion. Perhaps they preferred whiskey?
