About This Sydney Tour
This climb has been called one the world's top ten "Biggest Adrenaline Rush" experiences. Picture yourself at the summit of this beautifully massive bridge. The climb is exciting, the views are sensational – and you are euphoric. This is Sydney's peak adventure.
Locals affectionately call the bridge "The Coathanger," while the rest of world has envied this engineering marvel since it opened in 1932. As you climb, you'll feel the strength of the world's largest and heaviest steel arch. Run your fingers over its rivets and admire its powerful structure as you ascend ever higher among its steel girders. At the summit, you're atop the planet's tallest steel arch bridge, almost 450 feet above water level. You'll get plenty of time to take in the awesome views. You've earned it.
To reach the top, you ascend the bridge's arches over 4,900 feet of steel. As you climb the ladders and catwalks, you're guided step by step by your expert leader and secured to the bridge at all times. It's thrilling and perfectly safe. Your climbing group (of up to 14) may include people who've come from all over the world to accomplish this lifetime goal or to mark a special event. For everyone on the climb, reaching the top is a celebration.
Spanning the gorgeous harbor, this bridge is one of the city's most photographed sights. To you and the world, this is the signature image of Sydney and Australia. They'll capture your smiling face atop the bridge. That will forever be your favorite picture of Sydney.
That's some coathanger
It took more than 50,000 tons of steel and six million hand-driven rivets to build the bridge that locals call "The Coathanger." It was first painted grey because that was the only color available in the large quantity needed. Between 2,500 and 4,000 workers toiled during eight years of construction, earning the bridge a different nickname. Back then, it was called the "Iron Lung" because it kept so many Depression-era workers employed.

Climbers must wear rubber-soled athletic shoes and wear the climbing suit provided over their clothing. No cameras, video recorders or other loose objects may be taken onto the bridge; a locker is provided for your convenience. You are required to sign a waiver and take and pass a Breathalyzer test. Those failing to comply may not climb and will not receive a refund. This tour operates in all weather conditions, except electrical storms.
Expect a 2-hour bridge climb requiring a moderate amount of exertion. This tour is only recommended for active travelers that are in good physical condition and able to climb ladders and steep slopes. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.

Tour Participation Requirements
This experience is rated strenuous. Travelers must consider their physical fitness level and medical history when determining whether this tour is appropriate. Travelers with pre-existing neck, back, knee and/or shoulder injuries, cardiac conditions, asthma, diabetes, epilepsy, other heart or respiratory conditions or any other medical condition must take particular caution when selecting a tour categorized as "strenuous". If you have concerns, you must consult with your personal physician before engaging in any activity that may be too strenuous for you.
Travelers must be 8 years of age or older to participate in this tour. Children aged 8 to 15 must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of three children per adult.
Special Medical Restriction
If you have a fear of heights, this may not be a suitable excursion for you. If you are less than 24 weeks pregnant, you can participate with a signed Certificate of Fitness Form from your doctor. If you are over 24 weeks pregnant you cannot climb.
