      About This Sydney Tour

This climb has been called one the world's top ten "Biggest Adrenaline Rush" experiences. Picture yourself at the summit of this beautifully massive bridge. The climb is exciting, the views are sensational – and you are euphoric. This is Sydney's peak adventure.

Locals affectionately call the bridge "The Coathanger," while the rest of world has envied this engineering marvel since it opened in 1932. As you climb, you'll feel the strength of the world's largest and heaviest steel arch. Run your fingers over its rivets and admire its powerful structure as you ascend ever higher among its steel girders. At the summit, you're atop the planet's tallest steel arch bridge, almost 450 feet above water level. You'll get plenty of time to take in the awesome views. You've earned it.

To reach the top, you ascend the bridge's arches over 4,900 feet of steel. As you climb the ladders and catwalks, you're guided step by step by your expert leader and secured to the bridge at all times. It's thrilling and perfectly safe. Your climbing group (of up to 14) may include people who've come from all over the world to accomplish this lifetime goal or to mark a special event. For everyone on the climb, reaching the top is a celebration.

Spanning the gorgeous harbor, this bridge is one of the city's most photographed sights. To you and the world, this is the signature image of Sydney and Australia. They'll capture your smiling face atop the bridge. That will forever be your favorite picture of Sydney.

      That's some coathanger

It took more than 50,000 tons of steel and six million hand-driven rivets to build the bridge that locals call "The Coathanger." It was first painted grey because that was the only color available in the large quantity needed. Between 2,500 and 4,000 workers toiled during eight years of construction, earning the bridge a different nickname. Back then, it was called the "Iron Lung" because it kept so many Depression-era workers employed.
