About this Sydney Tour
"As far as the eye can see" takes on new meaning when you visit the Sydney Tower Eye, the city's tallest structure and a turreted tower that affords a heart-fluttering, bird's-eye view in every direction. Standing 1,014 feet high if you measure from street level to the tip of the spire, the Sydney Tower is the second highest in the Southern Hemisphere, exceeded only by the Sky Tower in Auckland (though Sydney's Observation Deck is 164 feet higher). It was opened to the public in August, 1981.
The Sydney Tower is twice as high as the equally iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. The horizon stretches before you like a real-life panoramic photo, making sunsets particularly awesome. And because the horizon is further away than at a lower elevation, you'll experience sunset a few minutes later than those Harbour Bridge denizens. For a completely different but equally jaw-dropping experience, you might want to visit on a dramatically cloudy day, or at night, when the city's shimmering lights twinkle in unison with the stars.
The 4D Cinema Experience adds another thrilling dimension to your visit. While the Observation Deck offers sweeping views from afar, the 4D Cinema brings you up close and personal, surrounding you with Sydney's iconic features and tickling your senses with special effects details like wind, bubble, and fire. There's so much to take in on your visit to the Tower Eye, that your own eyes will be wide with wonder.
Let's be crystal clear
Since your overall experience is only as good as your ability to see out those Observation Deck windows, cleaning said windows is one of the more important maintenance functions. A semi-automatic, window-cleaning machine called Charlie does the honors for the building's 420 glass panes. Charlie perpetually recycles and filters 13 gallons of water, taking two days to clean all of the Tower's windows. Out a clear window, you can see forever…
Please make your own way to the Sydney Tower
Take extra precautions to avoid too much exposure to the sun. Even on cloudy days, the UV is stronger than you may think.
A minimal amount of activity is involved. This tour is not wheelchair accessible.
