Resizing an Item

Resizing a graphic object changes its shape or size. When selected, an item displays small black squares at each corner and at each side. These black squares are handles. Use them to resize the item. You can resize any graphic item, including frames.

  1. Select the item. If the item is a frame, make sure the frame is not active. You cannot resize a frame while it is active.

  2. Make sure the selection pointer is in normal mode by clicking the Selection tool on the Drawing Toolbar

  3. Position the cursor over one of the handles. If you want to change the width of the item, position the cursor over one of the side handles. If you want to change the height of an item, position the cursor over the top or bottom handle. Likewise, if you want to change both height and width, position the cursor over one of the corner handles.

  4. When the cursor changes to a cross-hair (+), click and hold the primary mouse button.

  5. Drag-out the size for the item. If you are resizing a frame, the contents of the frame may shift to fill the new size of the frame. When the desired size is reached, release the mouse button.

If you want to resize an item to an exact height and width, use the size fields in the Graphics Toolbar:

Object Height

Width and height values are specified using the unit of measurement specified in the Preferences dialog.
