Display options manage what is and is not displayed on the screen.
To change display options:
Select Display Options from the Format menu. A Display Options dialog box appears.
Check the options you want to activate, and uncheck those you want to inactivate. The following options are available.
Show Grid |
When checked, a non-printing grid appears.
Shade Locked Cells |
When checked, locked cells are shaded. Unchecked, locked cells appear the same as all other cells.
Show Formulas |
When checked, the workspace displays the text of all formulas rather than the result.
Show Column Headings |
When checked, the column headers (A, B, C, etc.) are displayed. Unchecked, these are hidden.
NOTE: When having the Column and/or Row Headings hidden, you still can get the resize cursor by holding the <Ctrl> key.
Show Row Headings |
When checked, the row headers (1, 2, 3, etc.) are displayed. Unchecked, these are hidden.
Mark Circular Refs |
When checked, circular references in the spreadsheet are indicated with two small dots beside the value. Unchecked, circular references are not noted. A circular reference is a reference or series of references that ultimately refers back to itself. For example, A1 references B2, which references C3, which references A1. In this circumstance, all the cells would be marked as containing a circular reference. |
Click OK when done setting options.
You can also set options individually from the workspace. In any cell, right-click the mouse button to display a menu, then choose Display Options and toggle the option you want to set or unset.
