      • More than a guide: Even by GoBe standards, your tour leader is special. Known as a "docent" (from the Latin for teacher), this Ph.D. and M.A.-level scholar-guide will share insider secrets and insights that make the difference between seeing Hong Kong and understanding it.
      • Undivided attention: With a max group size of six, you'll be able to engage directly with your docent, get in-depth answers to your questions, perhaps even tweak the experience based on how the conversation unfolds.
      • Central district: Close to Victoria Harbor, this has been Hong Kong's trade, finance, and consulate center since the earliest British colonial days of the 1800s. Skyrocketing land values have left heritage buildings scarce, but you'll view some – like the former Legislative Council Building and St. John's Cathedral. And visit Statue Square, once lined with statues of British Royalty, now lined with modern business skyscrapers.
      • Victoria Gaol: Your amble through Central also ventures into smaller streets where the city's traditional Cantonese character shines through, and stops by Old Bailey Street to take in Hong Kong's oldest prison, now a monument.
      • Ride the Mid-levels Escalators: You'll take a spin on the world's longest outdoor escalator system – climbing some 440 feet (and several social strata) to connect the Central and Western districts of this steep, densely populated metropolis.
      • Sheung Wan district: In this trending neighborhood, East and West meet face to face as hip cafes and antique boutiques share the scene with traditional Chinese herbalists and medicine shops.

      Meeting point

Please make your way to Statue Square, Des Voeux Rd Central, Central, Hong Kong. Meet your guide to the right side of the statue of Sir Thomas Jackson (only standing statue in the square). Exit K of Central MTR station leads right out to Statue Square.

      Helpful hints

As in many cities, keep your wallet or purse secured and leave the bling behind. In case of extreme heat or rain you can wait under the covered benches to the right of the statue (when facing the statue).
