About this Oranjestad tour
This full-day tour is perhaps the best way to discover the lesser known or visited parts of Aruba. Included is a pick-up service, so pack your bag and prepare to ride over bumpy trails in a four-wheel drive. A scenic ride, you will see goats and donkeys roaming the cactus-strewn land, where Hibiscus flowers add speckles of color.
Strong waves and winds have chipped away at Aruba’s limestone cliffs over the years, resulting in several natural bridges being created around the coast. Although the most famous natural bridge collapsed in 2005, many still remain. The strength of the ocean is not to be messed with, but at Baby Beach the calm waters are ideal for wading, snorkeling and swimming.
Natural Pool, also known as "Cura di Tortuga,, is another destination suitable for water activities. Formed by volcanic stone and rock circles, it’s ideal for cooling off after checking out the abandoned Gold Mill Ruins and Lighthouse. Constructed to warn ships about the rugged coastline, the lighthouse is now a tourism landmark.
Arikok National Park extends inwards from the coast and covers almost 20 percent of the island. Protected, the land offers a glimpse into Aruba’s history and culture. Guided tours and educational activities are available at the park, where thorny bushes and leathery-leafed plants grow.
Aruba’s Diversity of Wildlife
The rolling landscape and various geological formations that give Aruba its beautiful appearance are favored by a number of wildlife species. If you’re a fan of bird-watching, visit the southeast, where brown noddies and black noddies tend to nest in the buttonwood trees at San Nicolas Bay’s conservation sites. In the desert-like sections of Aruba, donkeys, goats and other animal species with four legs can be seen wandering the land. If you’re lucky, you may spot the rare cascabel rattlesnake at Arikok National Park!
