About this Nassau tour
Once upon a time, swashbuckling pirates roamed the fair island of Nassau. The 17th century marauders pillaged and plundered in search of treasure. But the real treasure lies beneath the island's turquoise, clear waters in the form of its coral reefs, rich with jewel-colored fish and marine life.
This underwater bounty awaits as you sail away from the harbor on a state-of-the-art catamaran. Find a comfy spot on deck and enjoy the passing views of Nassau. Have your camera ready to snap shots of the amazing Atlantis Resort and Golf Club as well as the many prestigious homes of Paradise Island.
The Bahamian capital is home to some of the most sought-after snorkeling spots in the world and your excursion brings you to either the popular Spruce Cay or Athol Island. Once you drop anchor, the crew will provide snorkel equipment and show you how to use it. Feel free to ask questions and get guidance before you jump into the calm, aquamarine water.
Then discover why Nassau is known for snorkeling. Its crystal clear water offers a breathtaking view of living coral formations in various shades of pinks and the scores of tropical fish that make their home in paradise. Explore the different species as you swim among the schools. Back on the boat, enjoy a relaxing sail to shore with a complimentary rum punch. Complimentary filtered water is also available throughout the excursion. An under-the-sea adventure is yours for the taking as GoBe marks the spot!
Before Nassau became a paradise island resort, it was a haven for ill-doers in the 17th century. Shipwrecks were a popular means of income. To lure more ships to shore, marauders put lights on the reefs to ensure wreckage. The reigning English turned a blind eye and sent a Letter of Marque to captains called "privateers" allowing them to attack enemy ships. The island was soon overrun with pirates including the infamous Edward Teach, better known as Blackbeard.
Cruise travelers will meet at the cruise ship port. Independent/hotel travelers will meet at the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal Marina.
Snorkel vests are available in various sizes, but infants or small children should bring their own water flotation devices.
