About This Nassau Tour
Welcome to a wine connoisseur's dream come true…and you are living it. You'll receive your first whisper of what's to come upon arriving at this sumptuous, tropical mansion, close to Nassau's white-sand beaches. A gracious greeting awaits, complemented by an exquisite glass of champagne. Raise it up, drink to your fantastic fortune, and follow one of Graycliff's certified sommeliers farther inside.
Explore Nassau's first inn, and hear about its storied past, filled with pirates, soldiers, and celebrities. Discover a wine cellar with very few rivals in the region. In fact, it's among the largest private collections of fine and rare wines in the world and the second largest in the Western Hemisphere, housing 250,000-plus bottles from more than 400 vintners in 15 countries.
Enrico Garzaroli, Chairman and CEO, acquired it over decades. Valued in the millions, his inventory claims one of the oldest and most expensive bottles in the world, a 1727 Rudesheimer Apostelwein from Bremen Ratskeller. Garzaroli's passionate pursuit of superior wines and meticulous additions have paid off in a series of prestigious Wine Spectator Grand Awards, the expert's biggest honor, since 1988.
Next, you'll revel in a four-course gourmet repast, lovingly paired with corresponding wines. Chef crafts menus that change daily and seasonally. Rest assured yours includes an appetizer, soup or salad, two main courses, and dessert. After this experience, you'll echo Garzaroli's philosophy: "If you understand quality wines and appreciate their relationship to good food, then you have discovered one of the reasons for living." Cheers to that!
Sorry to be such a corktease
That certain Rudesheimer Apostelwein of 1727 vintage we mentioned comes from the Rheinghau region in Germany and with a potential $200,000 price tag. Wondering whether or not this treasure remains drinkable? It does. This centuries-spanning longevity results from the high sugar content inherent in ice wine. At Graycliff, look forward to service that's kind, but not that generous, so please…don't anticipate a pour, except perhaps in your dreams.
Please make your way to the Graycliff Restaurant, located within the Graycliff Hotel property: 8 thru 12 West Hill Street, Nassau.
