If you like a long, luxurious warm bath by candlelight, try one by a volcano.
As decadently luxurious as they are, the sulfuric mud baths at Sulphur Springs are actually quite good for you. Packed with therapeutic mineral compounds, the thick, warm mud is renowned for its healing powers, easing the discomfort of everything from psoriasis and eczema to arthritis and tired muscles. That healthful glow revealed after you've showered off is just an added bonus.
This park is the most active geothermal area in the Lesser Antilles and is billed as the Caribbean's only drive-in volcano. The springs were created more than 400,000 years ago when a weak spot in a huge collapsed crater created an upheaval of lava, which is probably the springs' heat source. Needless to say, Sulphur Springs has been waiting for you for a long time.
Soufriere was the original capital of St. Lucia founded by the French. Once the country became a British colony in 1803, Castries became the capital. But the town of Soufriere is no pushover. It's been rebuilt a few times after surviving five hurricanes, a major fire, and an earthquake. This tour will take you there with a few beautiful stops along the way. The twin peaks of Gros Piton and Petit Piton, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, tower over the city and the neighboring village.
You'll also drive through Castries (no hard feelings), where you'll get to see the Derek Walcott Square, named after the St. Lucian winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, one of the largest churches in the Caribbean.
Pint Sized Pitons
Named after none other than the island's most famous mountains, Piton Beer is a proudly St. Lucian brew that "stimulates the passion for friendship," according to the brewery. This crisp, golden pilsner lager is a great refresher for a warm day on the island. Kick back in the shadow of the Pitons and break open a Piton with a new friend.
Non-refundable if canceled within 48 hours of requested services.
