Set out on a Caribbean adventure to Cahuita National Park, one of the most beautiful and protected areas in Costa Rica. Founded in 1970, it is also one of the largest and oldest national parks in the country with a mission to conserve its immense 600-acre coral reef.
Your adventure will begin with getting picked up from your hotel and boarding your ground transportation to Cahuita village–where you will begin your guided boat tour through the chromatic coral reefs. With such a vast watery oasis, Cahuita boasts an array of marine and tropical wildlife that you will get up close and personal with as you snorkel through its crystalline turquoise waters. You can expect to encounter a grand variety of tropical fish, stingrays and even small breeds of sharks.
After this exciting watery adventure, you will embark on a nature hike through the forest. Here, your professional guide will point out several types of monkeys, rodents and reptiles, so make sure to have your camera ready! There is also an extensive variety of birds, such as heron, toucans and parrots, so if you didn’t like bird watching before, you will do so after this hike! After an exciting and nature-filled day, you will make your journey back to your hotel.
As if all the natural beauty and wildlife weren’t enough to entice you, Cahuita’s coast houses an 18th century shipwreck at the mouth of the Perezoso River! Explore this wonder, and who knows, you might get lucky and find some treasure.
