About this Mostar tour
A walk around Mostar combines Old World charm and New World resilience. Mostar tends toward comfortable yet fashionable attire while meandering its exquisite streets.
Witnessing the collaboration of different cultures and how they’ve impacted each other is a true testament to just how multifaceted this ancient city is. The Old Bridge area reflects that impact with a wide array of architectural designs from various time periods and cultures.
Make sure to stand on the Stari Most, a 16th century, Ottoman-style marvel. Many believe this bridge qualifies as the most relevant structure of the city in terms of design. It offers a beguiling air of intrigue and beauty. Don't panic if you see a young men climbing over the side. It's not unusual to see Mostar daredevils diving off the bridge in a display of showmanship and bravery.
Street art is also present around every corner and offers more local insight. A massive amount of it covers buildings both old and new. Some of it could hang on the walls of the Museum of Herzegovina Mostar, a stop you definitely want to add to your list. This museum features tens of thousands of pieces, ranging from architectural discoveries to paintings. So strap on some comfy shoes, and let your passions lead the way on this truly inspiring walk through Mostar.
Amazing Bird Watching!
Blagaj, a village located in the south-eastern region of the Mostar basin, boasts 200 sunny days a year, making it an ideal habitat for over 170 bird types. The most revered bird of the bunch also qualifies as the most endangered: the Gyps fulvus, or the white-headed vulture. The figs and peaches that grow nearby make for a delicious day of bird-watching.
