This ancient spa town was first frequented by the Romans who came to sit and soak in the relaxing hot springs that occur naturally on the site, hence the town's name. It became even more popular during the Victorian era when people came just to “take the waters' and relax from the grind of their leisurely lives. Today it's a beautifully preserved architectural marvel that still attracts visitors who come for (you guessed it) the healing waters. But don't be fooled. There is far more to do in Bath than just sit in a tub of warm water.
