      Can you do the can-can?

Did you know that the can-can, the famous Parisian dance associated with high kicks and billowy skirts, was considered highly scandalous when it was first invented? The dance may have been inspired by Charles Mazurier, an acrobat famous in the 1820s. By the mid-1800s, the dance was taking off in popularity, and by the turn of the 20th century, the can-can was one of the most iconic attractions of the Moulin Rouge. What made it so scandalous? Women exposing their underwear, of course!
