Imagine your perfect evening in Paris. Perhaps it begins with dinner in a chic spot, dazzles you with views that will be stamped in your memory forever, and romances you with a cruise that glides past dreamily lighted city sights. Count on GoBe's savoir-faire to create your idyllic night in La Ville Lumiere, as Parisians call their City of Light.
We whisk you to the Eiffel Tower, where you breeze past long lines and get right in for a tasty dinner. The restaurant features a lively open kitchen and a passion for fresh, seasonal products. Menu items can include Trout Marinated in Manakara Peppercorns, Fromage Blanc with Herbs, Roasted Poultry Supreme and Mashed Potatoes with Jerusalem Artichoke and a Truffle Oil Emulsion. A dessert specialty is Crousti Eiffel with praline chocolate and custard cream sauce. Toast the evening with your choice of red, white, or rose wine. Sante!
After dinner, admire panoramas of the sparkling city stretching far to the horizon. As you take it all in, you'll spot such iconic sights as the Sacre Coeur Basilica at the top of Montmartre, the Arc de Triomphe, and the gleaming golden dome of the Hotel des Invalides. Take the stairs to the second floor of the tower if you wish (no extra charge), or buy a ticket and go to the top. (Just let us know your plans, and take your river cruise later.)
As your glass-topped boat skims under graceful, illuminated bridges, you sense the magical atmosphere that steals over Paris each evening. Along the banks are landmarks like the magnificent Gothic Notre-Dame Cathedral, Conciergerie, Louvre Museum, and Orsay Museum, all splendidly lit for this enchanted evening in La Ville Lumiere.
Towering tallest for four decades
Completed in 1889, Gustave Eiffel's famous iron tower was the gateway to the Paris Universal Exposition. It was also was the tallest man-made structure on the planet. For 41 years it held that record until the Chrysler Building shot up into New York City skies in 1930. At 984 feet tall (1,063 feet if you count the antennas at the top), the Eiffel Tower still stands loftily as the tallest structure in the City of Paris.
