If you had to conjure up just one image of Paris, it would likely be the magnificent Eiffel Tower.

The metal marvel of engineering and design that Gustave Eiffel's company produced for the 1889 World's Fair (the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution) is a must-see. Enjoy priority access while visiting the world's most visited paid monument, and enjoy views from second, third, and (if you choose) fourth floors.

Meet your guide at the foot of the Tower's north pillar, just in front of Gustave Eiffel's statue. With your line-jumper ticket in hand, you'll head up to the second and third floors. On the second floor, enjoy panoramic views of the capital as well as of the Champ de Mars located just below the Tower. This level's transparent walkway 187 feet above the ground offers an extra thrill.

But don't stop there—let the elevator take you to the third floor, 377 feet above ground. From this great height, you'll take in stunning, 360-degree views. Have fun picking out Paris's landmarks, including the chalky white Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Sacré-Coeur) situated high on the hill in Montmartre, the Invalides with its golden dome (Napoleon is buried here), the Tour Montparnasse (a 686-foot office skyscraper), and the Arc de Triomphe overlooking the beautiful Champs-Elysées.

After seeing Paris from the air, get ready (whenever you choose) to appreciate the views from the water aboard a Seine cruise. Let the City of Lights enchant you with its magic.

      You light up my life

Every evening of the year, every hour on the hour (until 1 A.M.), the Eiffel Tower lights up and sparkles for five minutes. It takes 20,000 light bulbs and many energy-saving projectors to make the magic happen. And the beacon at the top? It emits a light beam that reaches miles. Whether you're in the Tower, aboard a boat on the Seine, or just strolling along the Champs-Elysées, you'll find yourself smiling when those lights start twinkling.
