      About This Berlin Tour

Berlin’s history cannot be wiped away. Home to UNESCO World Heritage sites like Museum Island and tree-lined Boulevard "Unter den Linden", the magnificent metropolis has built itself back up from the mess that was left following the Cold War.

The city is best seen on a bike. Rent a bike from your hotel, or, for an additional cost, we can have your bike delivered to you. Your private guide will then pick you up from your hotel and offer you the many cycling routes that weave around the Governmental Quarter’s parliamentary buildings, where Hitler addressed cheering crowds once upon a dark time. Travel in the direction of notable squares from Spree Island’s northern tip, after gazing open-mouthed at Berlin Cathedral’s magnificent dome.

The site of Nazi book burning ceremonies can be explored, as well as grand Pariserplatz, which is flanked by the French and American embassies. Your journey will continue past statue of renowned German poet Friedrich Schiller on Gendarmenmarkt Square and towards the remnants of Berlin Wall.

Checkpoint Charlie was built at the same time as this wall and the border crossing saw many deaths during the Third Reich. Learn about this somber period in German history at Topography of Terror and Holocaust Memorial. Pedal your bike to the oldest roman-catholic parish of the Archdiocese, St. Hedwig Cathedral, and see a quotation of Karl Marx inside Humboldt University before the day is up.

      Brandenburg Gate

The ground that the symbolic Brandenburg Gate stands on is where a former city gate once stood. Inspired by the Propylaeum of Athens’ Acropolis, the monument’s 12 Doric columns are 15 meters in height. Of its five passages, the center passage is largest and was once reserved for royals. The sculptures that embellish the landmark were designed by Gottfried Schadow and when the Nazis rose to power, Brandenburg Gate was used as a Third Reich symbol.
