About This Frankfurt Tour
Have you ever fallen in love with a place? The adventure consumes you. You want to learn every nook and cranny of its existence. The more you take in, the deeper you fall, and the more you wish to see. Nowhere is this more likely to happen than Heidelberg. Come spend a day in a city bursting with tales of true love.
With an ivy-clad castle on a hill, old cobbled streets, an ancient university, and a picturesque bridge that has been venerated in poems and paintings, Heidelberg has developed a global reputation for romance. And rightly so. Set beside the Neckar River, this is a place that has delighted visitors for generations.
Let GoBe be your guide as you tour this remarkable city. Travel by luxury sedan or van to the magnificent Heidelberg Castle, perched on the slopes of Mount Konigstuhl. Explore the ruins and terraced gardens with a knowledgeable guide and gain a unique appreciation of this mighty fortress, which has experienced its fair share of ups and downs over 700 years.
Wander the alleyways, public squares, and gardens on a guided walking tour of the historic downtown. See breathtaking Renaissance architecture and the acclaimed Philosophenweg (Philosopher's Path). You will even enjoy two hours on your own to shop and have lunch before your return trip to Frankfurt.
The best part of falling in love with a place is that it will always be a part of you, no matter how long you are away. At the end of the day, your driver will return you to your hotel or, if you prefer, another central point in Frankfurt. Of course, distance makes the heart long for lost loves, so you may want to start planning a return trip.
Now that's a barrel of fun
Contained within the cellars of Heidelberg Castle is the Heidelberg Tun, the world's largest wine barrel. Thirty oak trees were reputedly used in its construction. It was built in 1751 and stands 23 feet high and 27 feet wide. This massive cask is capable of holding 55,000 gallons of wine, and even has a dance floor built on top of it. A staircase allows visitors to climb atop the barrel for a quick dance!
