About This Munich Tour
In the heart of Munich is Marienplatz, where historical attractions are located. Mary’s Square has been used as a space for events and gatherings since 1158. Full of surprises, the square is crossed by two of the biggest shopping streets in the metropolis.
Delve into the past at Altes Rathaus (Old City Hall). Rebuilt numerous times, it conceals a toy museum, while Neues Rathas (New City Hall) is home to the famous Glockenspiel, which chimes twice a day. Another focal point is Marien Column and the statue of Golden Mary that is fixed to its top.
Locals tend to meet around Fischbrunnen (Fountain of the Fishes), ahead of shopping for fresh ingredients at Viktualienmarket and praying at Frauenkirche Church. You can also explore these places during the walking tour.
Step foot on the ground where four policemen were shot down during the failed coup d'etat in 1923 at Odeon Square, before learning about Jewish faith at the New Synagogue and its neighboring museum.
Next, join your guide in your private vehicle as you travel further from the city center for an overview of the city that incorporates its most important sights and must-see icons such as Nymphenburg Palace, once the summer residence of past Bavarian rulers. Head to Munich's "Church of our Lady", the very symbol of the city, before reaching, Olympic Park, home of the 1972 Olympic Games 1972. Continue past the World of BMW, the Bavaria Statue, and the area of the world-renowned Octoberfest. You will be picked up at your hotel or any other point of your choice in Munich and spend an entertaining and unforgettable 2-hour walk and 3-hour ride through the Bavarian capital before returning to your hotel in Munich.
The wedding may be over but the party goes on
Munich is home for the annual Oktoberfest, a world-renowned beer festival lasting for two weeks at the end of September. It all began in October of 1810, when Bavarian Crown Prince Louis, later King Louis I of Bavaria, married Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. The Bavarian royalty invited the citizens of Munich to attend the reception. It was such a popular event that it was decided to repeat the festivities the following year. And the year after that. And the year after that, and so on. Now that’s one heck of a wedding celebration.
