Private Dublin History Tour with Historian
- More than a guide: Even by GoBe standards, your tour leader is special. Known as a "docent" (from the Latin for teacher), your Ph.D. or M.A.-level scholar-guide will make the difference between seeing Dublin and understanding it.
- Your group, your tour: This private experience lets you choose the departure time and customize a walk that's in step with your passions. Set the pace that works for your group (up to 6); even the tour's length (usually about two hours) is flexible.
- Historic sights: Discover graceful Ha'penny Bridge and cultural hotbed Temple Bar along the River Liffey. Admire sprawling 13th-century Dublin Castle, site of the "black pool" after which the city was named. See the even more ancient Christ Church Cathedral, whose crypts are said to contain the tomb of Norman warlord, Strongbow. And Trinity College, where the 1300-year-old Book of Kells lives.
- Useful practical info, too: Your in-the-know docent will help you get your bearings, including insights on Dubliner customs, where to find well-known pubs, breweries, and restaurants – and how to decode some crazy Gaelic words they use in this town.
About This Dublin Tour
If you're new to Dublin, after this tour you'll be old friends. Think of this as Dublin 101. Your docent is the lecturer (possibly in real-life, too), there are no tests, and everybody who participates graduates with honors – and a new sense of how the story of Ireland's capital has reverberated through the wider world over the ages.
Please meet your guide in front of The Gresham Hotel, on O'Connell St.
As in many cities, keep your wallet or purse secured and leave the bling behind.

Buildings, museums, streets, and monuments can sometimes close without notice due to labor strikes, structural problems, or other civic disturbances.
The docent who leads a given walk may become unavailable at the last minute due to illness or other unforeseen circumstance. In these cases we will seek to re-organize the walk to accommodate the change; however, our responsibility in these cases is limited and we cannot be held liable for circumstances beyond our control.
Plan to walk for approximately 2 miles at a gentle pace. If your mobility is limited, this tour may be too challenging for you. This itinerary is not suitable for wheelchairs.
