      • More than a guide: Even by GoBe standards, your tour leader is special. Known as a "docent" (from the Latin for teacher), the expert insights of this Ph.D. or M.A.-level scholar-guide will bring Milano's unexpected relics and colorful history fully to life.
      • Your group, your tour: Share this exclusive outing with your private crew of up to 6. Choose your departure time, set your own pace, and customize a walk that's in total step with your passions. Even tour length (typically about three hours) is flexible.
      • Start out right: Any Italian expedition should begin with a flaky pastry and frothy cappuccino – and this one's no exception. At a well-known pasticceria, you'll even find out how coffee first came to this country.
      • Roman ruins: Along rustic Via Brisa, encounter remnants of a structure now known to have been a Roman imperial palace. See impressive artifacts of Milan's earliest era at the Archaeology Museum, and remains of original city fortifications at Monastero Maggiore.
      • More Roman ruins: Visit the below-ground Roman Forum site, where major civil and religious events once happened. Learn how Milan's's defenses worked as you gaze on the formidable Porta Ticinese, last Roman city gate still standing. Imagine blood-thirsty gladiator and beast spectacles underway at the Milanese arena – nearly as large as Rome's Colosseum when built, though now marked by just a few tiered bleachers.
      • Medieval Milano landmarks:  Soak up architectural history at the imposing Basilica of San Lorenzo (home to 5th-century mosaics), and learn the convoluted stories behind the famous Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio, a Romanesque masterwork built in the 12th century around parts of a much earlier structure.
      • Medieval Pusterla and Devil's Column: See the modern recreation of an ancient double-arched gate built from bricks of actual city walls. And ponder devilish legends many believe explain two holes that appeared in a certain Corinthian marble column.

      Meeting point

Please meet your guide in front of the Pasticceria Marchesi. The exact address is Via Santa Maria alla Porta, 11a, just off Corso Magenta. The closest metro stops are Cairoli and Cadorna.
