About this Naples Tour
This breathtaking town that straddles the cliffs overlooking the water to Naples and Mount Vesuvius is both a very civilized and beautiful town, unfolding over rugged cliffs that climb steeply from the Mediterranean Sea, creating splendid views of the colorful marina and sparkling ocean You will enjoy browsing through its many beautiful and quaint old shops which sell souvenirs, ceramics and lacework.. A good base for exploring surrounding areas, Sorrento offers something for everyone.
Homer’s poetic saga of sailors being called by the irresistible song of the sirens seems a plausible tale, given that Sorrento is indeed a magical place that seduces virtually anyone who comes within sight of its shores.
Stop for a photo at the fishing village of Positano, one of the towns along the way. You may remember this scenery from "Under the Tuscan Sun." It's a vertical village where instead of roads, you navigate it via stairs. Not for the faint of heart or those afraid of heights.
Italy's lush Amalfi Coast: let the contrast sink in: Along winding coastal roads are a string of rustic villages set along the glittering Mediterranean Sea, and you'll experience the wild and untouched beauty of some of the world's most dramatic scenery from the comfort of your private vehicle.
You'll have some free time to explore the town of Amalfi, medieval rival of seafaring behemoths Genoa and Pisa until it was destroyed by a tsunami in the 14th century. Visit stunning St. Anthony's Cathedral or toast la dolce vita with a shot of limoncello, Amalfi's famed liqueur. Tsunamis? Volcanoes? No worries. The sweet life endures.
All signs point to Amalfi
Though in commercial decline after the 12th century, Amalfi continued to thrive intellectually, and was famous for its flourishing schools of law and mathematics. That's no less true on the maritime front: Amalfi's sailors are credited with being the first to introduce the navigational compass.
