About This Pisa Tour
Welcome to the Mercato Centrale Firenze (Florence Central Market). This is where real deal chefs get the ingredients for their flavorful Tuscan dishes. The sheer volume of vendors hawking meats, poultry (don't be surprised to see full chickens with heads and feet still attached), gourmet cheeses, fresh olives, baked breads, and more is enough to make your head spin. Good thing you have a pro chef by your side to help you navigate the stalls and buy the very best products.
Roll up your sleeves, tie on that apron, and get those artisan ingredients ready. You're about to make magic in a Florentine kitchen under the expert guidance of a genuine Tuscan chef. Wash, chop, knead, simmer, and cook your way to culinary mastery as you prepare a full, authentic Italian meal. The menu of the day includes a bruschetta starter, fresh pasta with a homemade tomato, Ragu Bolognese, or pesto sauce, a meat or seafood entree, side dish, and dessert.
Of course this area of the world is known for more than its food. Florence is nestled right into the heart of the Chianti region of Tuscany, famed for producing the red blended wine that bears the same name. It captures the iconic scents of Italy with notes of oregano, sweet aged balsamic, dried salami, espresso, and more. And it tastes like heaven, especially when paired with Tuscan cuisine.
That's why a glass of Chianti is the perfect accompaniment to your lunch. Yes, the lunch that you've prepared yourself. And this is going to be good. The dishes you've cooked are artfully presented for you to devour and wash down with that lovely Chianti…or water or soft drink. The last decadent bite of your meal isn't the end. It's just the beginning of your culinary journey because you'll leave with a graduation certificate and recipes so you can keep cooking like a pro at home.
Made in China. Perfected in Italy.
Sure, the Chinese are on record as slurping up noodles as early as 5,000 BC. But the Italians gave this carb-tastic dish its sex appeal. Etruscan wall carvings dating back to 400 BC depict the tools used in making pasta. This handcrafting method remained in vogue until the 18th century when Cesare Spadacinni invented the pasta-making machine for Ferdinando II, the King of Naples. Today, Italy churns out 3.5 million pounds of pasta annually. Quite a noble achievement.
A shuttle bus will pick you up from Pisa Piazza, Duomo 7 and take you to meet your representative at the My Tour office, Via Martelli, 33 red, in Florence.
The Central Market is closed on Sundays and some Holidays. On these occasions, travelers will enjoy a special introduction and extra tasting during the cooking class. Whilst your meeting point is in Florence, your return shuttle tickets to/ from Pisa are included
