About this St. Petersburg tour
Situated between Truda’s Square, St. Isaac’s Square and Dekabristov Square is Konnogvardeysky Boulevard, where you will set off on your Segway. Back in the early 18th century, this boulevard was the transportation hub for wood to be taken to the Admiralty Shipyard from New Holland. It is the perfect place to begin the tour, what with so much history encircling the square.
Glance around and you’ll take in sights of The Bronze Horseman, which is dedicated to Peter the Great. Numerous notable buildings were constructed on Konnogvardeysky Boulevard, including Kochubey House and Nicholas Palace complex, which was built between 1853 and 1861.
When you’re satisfied with photographs you take on this ancient territory, hop back on your Segway and roll on over to the River Neva’s Admiralteyskaya Embankment. One of St. Petersburg’s most historic streets, it is a preferred spot for romantic evening strolls and is also the location of the Twelve Colleges buildings, which were initially constructed to house Peter’s supreme governmental bodies.
During your time exploring the grounds, your attention will be drawn to the Rostral Columns, the University Embankment complex and Old Saint Petersburg Stock Exchange. On the final part of the tour, you will approach the Church on the Spilled Blood and Kazan Cathedral, but not before riding the Segway along Palace Square to the Alexander Column, Hermitage Building and major city landmark for Russia’s former Royal Guards, the General Staff Building and Admiralty.
Segway Use in Russia
The number of people using a Segway for sightseeing has increased massively over the years, not just in Russia, but around the world. Designed with various performance settings, they can function at a speed of approximately 12.5 mph, making these battery-powered machines three times faster than walking! From seeking out the tastiest Pirozhki to saving the legwork of window shopping down the Nevsky Prospect, there’s no wonder why so many private and group tours commence daily around St. Petersburg via Segway.
Pick-up is included from select hotels. Please specify your hotel name and location during check-out.
As in many cities, keep your wallet or purse secured and leave the bling behind. Flat shoes make walking on cobblestones much easier.
