Journey to Taurus Mountains on a 4x4 Safari & Dine Turkish Style

      Alanya, Turkey
From (USD) $108 Per Person (Based on 2)
      • Taurus Mountains: Southern Turkey’s immense mountain complex separates the Mediterranean coastal region and is one of the world’s youngest mountain ranges.
      • Dim Dam: This rock-filled dam was created between 1996 and 2007. It is important to the region, because it provides Alanya with electricity and fresh water.
      • Turkish Bread and BBQ: Sample some traditional gözleme at a village house near the Taurus Mountains and feast on BBQ by the river.
      About This Alanya Tour

Treat yourself to an adventurous day out that will leave you feeling satisfied in more ways than one. A tour that includes professional transportation along the stunning terrain that leads to the Taurus Mountains, you will be whisked away in a Land Rover 4X4 and invited to sample on gözleme inside a Turkish villager’s house. This traditional bread is made with yufka dough and the savory pastry dish will fill your tummy ahead of your arrival at the astonishing mountain complex.

Divided into three chains, the Taurus Mountains consist of the Bey Mountains, Akdağlar, Katrancık Mountain and Geyik Mountain in the West, Bolkar Mountains, Akçalı Mountains, Anti-Taurus Mountains, Aladaglar Mountain and Tahtalı Mountains in the center, and Maden Mountains, Genç Mountains, Nurhak Mountains, Malatya Mountains and Bitlis mountains in the southeast.

Extending along a curve, the system’s history dates back to the early Roman period. A destination for numerous ancient storm-god temples, the Battle of Issus took place on the foothills of the mountain’s coastal passes. A railway system running through the mountains played a significant strategic role during World War I, putting an end to hostility with the Ottoman Empire.

If you’re feeling hot and hungry after exploring the mountains, enjoy a barbecued lunch overlooking Dimcay River and take a swim before snapping photographs of the Dim Dam on route back to Alanya.

      Unusual Turkish Dining Etiquette

When you’re invited into a Turkish person’s home, whether it’s for a drink, general conversation or a full blown feast, you are pretty much obliged to say yes. After all, it’s an honor to be invited! Shoes should be removed at the door to show politeness and feet should not be pointed at anyone. Use your right to take food from the communal bowl on the dining table.
