About this Kusadasi tour
While you could walk around Ephesus alone and marvel at its historic charm, having a personal guide show you around will be the better option. Let the past unravel as you walk on the soil where the son of the king of Athens-Kodros stood back in 10 BC. At that time, Androclos (the son of the king of Athens-Kodros) chose to settle here. Once dominated by Persians, this city was formerly ruled by Croesus - the Lydian King.
Despite the fact that a large portion of the ancient city remains undiscovered, there are multifarious structures to visit, including the Temenos Temple, State Agora and Memmius Monument.
Perhaps the most notable temples in the area is the Temple of Artemis, which was one of Turkey’s most magnificent places of worship. So astounding is the city that the Virgin Mary chose to settle nearby, and you will have the opportunity to step inside her house on the mountain.
What You May Not Know About the Aegean Sea
No other body of water on this planet can be compared with the Aegean Sea. Learn about its history during this tour, whereby you’ll float around waters in the eastern Mediterranean. Western civilization was born in the Aegean, beginning with the Minoans and the Mycenaeans, followed by the Spartans and Athenians. Approximately 83,000 square miles of the Earth’s surface is covered by the Aegean Sea and sprinkled around the waters are islands of varying sizes. Don’t expect them to be tropical paradises blanketed in white sand though, because most of them are volcanic and fairly rugged.
Please exit the port terminal building to meet your guide. Please look for the displayed logo sign. Staying at a hotel? Be sure to advise us when you reserve your tour so we can meet you in the lobby.
In the House of the Virgin Mary, you may enter the chapel and light a candle, or even just leave a paper note on the wall to bring you luck.
On August 15th, the House of Virgin Mary will be heavily congested due to "The Assumption of Mother Mary" day. You will have to walk long distances and may have to wait in line. There will be several masses in the site as well. The draft program: 10:30 - 11:00 / Blessing + 11:00 - 12:30 / Mass + 15:00 - 15:30 / Rosary prayer for Mother Mary.
You will be walking for about 3 miles, up inclines and over gravel and cobblestone terrain. If you have limited mobility, this tour will be too challenging for you to enjoy and maintain the pace of the group. It is not wheelchair accessible.
