About this Marmaris tour
Enjoy an escape to the resort town of Dalyan. Cruise the Dalyan River and its beautiful delta, home to loggerhead turtles. These rare turtles often come to the sandbars to lay their eggs. Also be on the lookout for other rare wildlife.
Join in the famous Dalyan mud bathing fun. When the mud has dried, shower down and jump into the warm sulfur pools to rejuvenate your skin. Carry your swimwear if you would like to take part in the famous mud baths.
Enjoy lunch (at your own expense) at a beachside restaurant. In the afternoon, cruise past the historic Kings' Tombs of Kaunos. The tombs are curved into riverside cliffs and date back to the 4th century.
Then, explore the ruins of the ancient city of Kaunos. See the aged Roman streets, baths, agoras and a Greek Byzantine theater. The oldest finding within this archeological site is the neck of a Protogeometric amphora, dating back to the 9th century BC and possibly earlier. A statue is also thought to date back to this time also.
Enjoy some sun and relaxation at Iztuzu beach, where you must keep a look out for loggerhead turtles. These endangered turtles visit this protected sandbar every year to lay their eggs.
Visit the Historic Temple Tombs
There are six temple tombs in Dalyan. These tombs are located near the ancient city ruins of Kaunos. Two of the tombs go back to the Hellenistic era, and four of them are from the Roman era. The tombs are the resting places of the kings of ancient Kaunos. Notice how they are beautifully curved.
The rock tombs are carved into the cliff and can be easily spotted. Therefore, you will not have a problem getting to them. However, it’s an uphill journey to the tombs but when you reach the top, you will be rewarded with their breathtaking views.
Please exit the port terminal building to meet your guide. Please look for the displayed logo sign. Staying at a hotel? Be sure to advise us when you reserve your tour so we can meet you in the lobby.
Take extra precautions to avoid too much exposure to the sun. Even on cloudy days, the UV is stronger than you may think. Bring some shampoo and shower gel for after the mud baths.
