About This Acapulco Tour
Enjoy scenic vistas and panoramic views of Acapulco Bay while you discover the most interesting places in the city. On your guided panoramic drive, you’ll journey along Costera Miguel Aleman Avenue. This main artery road connects the port to the extensive Pacific coastline, which is lined with condo buildings, restaurants and shopping on one side; the gorgeous beaches of Acapulco Bay lie on the other side, parallel to the avenue.
After your trip down the main thoroughfare, you’ll head to the city’s scenic highway for breathtaking views of Acapulco Bay and Puerto Marquez. Your adventure continues with a visit to the Acapulco Diamond Area where Acapulco’s famous resort hotels are located. The landmark Acapulco Princess Hotel was built to resemble an ancient Aztec pyramid, while the Mayan Palace Hotel was constructed in the likeness of a Mayan temple.
Next up is a large craft market where local merchants and craftsmen showcase their wares, including arts and crafts rich in culture and tradition.
Your experience culminates in a show featuring the celebrated Acapulco cliff divers. These talented performers make spectacular death-defying leaps off the famous cliffs of La Quebrada into the ocean below.
Howard Hughes’ Stay at Acapulco Princess Hotel
The Acapulco Princess Hotel has had a number of famous guests over the years, and its beauty is likely what attracted Howard Hughes to stay. The owner of Trans World Airlines and developer of the Spruce Goose occupied the penthouse suite at the hotel for some time, before departing on April 5, 1976 aboard a private plane. He never made it to his destination in Houston, Texas, having passed away sometime during his flight. The circumstances surrounding Hughes’ death, due to kidney failure, mean that the Acapulco Princess Hotel was his final residence of record.
