Deep-Sea Fishing in Acapulco

Acapulco is legendary for its nightclubs, entertainment and beaches, but there’s another fact that’s not so well known about the city: It’s one of the best big game fishing destinations in the world. On this tour, you’ll experience the thrill of being out on the open seas – without having to cruise hundreds of miles out. Some of the most challenging game fishing in the area is found just outside Acapulco Bay.
You’ll be deep-sea fishing alongside a crew of bilingual, experienced game fishermen who have been enjoying the sport all their lives. The comfortable, yet rustic cruiser, will take the group just a short distance from the mouth of the bay, where the Pacific is teeming with an abundance of species, including sailfish, dorado, marlin and many more.
Some expert advice and tips from the crew increase your chances of hooking a game fish, but don’t expect a prize: Reeling in a trophy of 10 feet/200 pounds earns you the applause and admiration of the crew, a community that respects and recognizes a true sports fisherman.
All fishing equipment and gear are provided, along with a selection of soft drinks onboard. However, you will need to purchase your fishing license at the port before departure. The memories are yours to keep.
Dolphin the Fish – Not Dolphin the Mammal
You’ll hear mention of landing a dolphin during your fishing excursion, as the species is a challenge to catch and a delicacy to eat. Before you call PETA or organize a protest, you must understand that the term “dolphin” refers to two completely different species of sea life. The cute dolphins that perform at water parks and are spotted leaping before the doomed vessel in Titanic are mammals – and most certainly not your target while deep-sea fishing. Dolphin is another term for Dorado, otherwise known as mahi-mahi in other parts of the world.
