Suave, sultry, and sometimes downright ostentatious. This tour hearkens back to the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Between the 1930s and '50s, flicks made here showcased to the world this country's fascination with crooning charros ("cowboys"), skirt-swirling starlets, and a flamboyant tavern scene, ever-complemented by flowing bottles of tequila. Recreate those romantic moments during this city-wide celebration.

First, imbibe in body- and soul-stirring tunes. At Plaza de los Mariachis, merry musicians rally 24 hours a day to play requests (for pay), while patrons munch and sip. Note their fancy charro suits, the official uniforms that they wear. The atmosphere can't get more colorful than at Casa Bariachi, where skillful mariachis and dancers share the stage, performing joyful regional numbers.

Mingle with old-timers and fellow travelers at La Fuente, a blast from the past straight out of a movie set. Its authentic character only lends credence to its reputation as a popular locals' bar. At Los Famosos Equipales, relax in the locally made, wood-and-leather namesake chairs, in a swoon-worthy backdrop with saloon doors, flaking paint, stone columns, and fading photos of resident soccer, boxing, and bullfighting heroes.

Prepare to channel your inner Pedro Infante or Dolores del Rio. Guadalajara is a fiesta city, one that invites everyone to jump in and partake of the party vibe. So seize that drink and each moment, and jump right in. And if you don't know the words, simply chime in with a well-timed, "Ay ay ay!" Before you know it, your silver-screen persona will be complete.

Your food and drink is as per your own liking and therefore will be purchased separately.

"They'd start the game feeling happy."

Another native passion? Soccer. And it is heritage at Los Famosos Equipales. Staff say Chivas de Guadalajara stars pre-gamed there during their mid-20th-century winning streak. "The Goats" of that era are broadly thought the best team in Mexican history, and the story goes they warmed up with tequila each game day morning. Not shocking. The bar began as a shop where people once arrived on horseback for pre-work tequila shots.

Non-refundable if canceled within 24 hours of requested services.
