Travel from Anchorage to the quaint town of Talkeetna for the ultimate nature experience! On this tour, you’ll explore Talkeetna from the water aboard a jet boat and stroll through a historic campsite with some of the best natural views and colorful wildflowers. Snacks and glacier bottled water will be available aboard the van.
Begin this all-day tour with an informative and scenic drive along Glenn and Parks Highways to the historic town of Talkeetna. Then, embark on a two-hour jet tour aboard an enclosed jet boat. As you’re whisked into the heart of the wilderness, keep an out for resident wildlife like bald eagles and beavers. Travel for 20 miles along the river while your naturalist guide offers informative commentary on the area and Mt. Denali, the tallest mountain in North America.
Then, continue this experience at the Dena'ina Indian Encampment where you’ll enjoy a leisure walk. During the walk you’ll visit an authentic trapper’s cabin with original furnishings. Your guide will tell you how early trappers in this region lived in "Bush" Alaska at the turn of the century. Your experienced guide will also display furs from the area and demonstrate trapping methods. Naturalists will also teach you about the wildflowers and plants that grow along the river system and tell you about the edible plants that were used by the Dena’ina for cooking and medicine. During this experience you’ll be provided with a light lunch and refreshments to keep you energized. To wrap-up this all-day adventure, enjoy a ride back to Anchorage.
