      About This Anchorage Tour

Begin this experience from Anchorage. Travel south through Seward Highway towards Mt. Alyeska. The summit of this mountain is almost 4,000 feet high and its slopes average 54 feet of snow every year. Once at Mt. Alyeska, take a tram to the top of the mountain and visit the viewing decks of the Roundhouse Museum. Weather permitting, you’ll be able to see several glaciers from this viewpoint, as well as Turnagain Arm from the museum’s viewing decks.

Then, take the tram back down the mountain for lunch at a top favorite eatery located at the base of the Chugach Mountains. You’ll feast on the bottomless soup of the day, famous sourdough bread, and delicious desserts. Non-alcoholic beverages are included. You may enjoy lunch indoors or outside among beautiful flowers and the best scenery.

After lunch, continue this all-day experience to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. This site is a rescue and rehabilitation organization for Alaska’s wild mammals. Here you’ll view grizzly bears, eagles, families of elk and bison, wolves, and other furry friends.

After your wildlife encounter, the next and last part of the tour will take you to the Portage Glacier. Experience an up-close encounter with this incredible ice formation as you go on a one-hour cruise across Portage Lake. A naturalists aboard will share informative facts and stories about the land, the local flora and fauna, and the beautiful glaciers of the Portage Valley. Your captain will take you to a safe distance from the edge of the glacier so you can experience its radiant hues and ancient power.  With so many things to do and see on this comprehensive tour, you’ll be entertained from beginning to end!
