      • More than a guide: Even by GoBe standards, your tour leader is special. Known as a "docent" (from the Latin for teacher), this Ph.D. and M.A.-level scholar-guide will make the difference between seeing Boston and understanding how the chapters of its history trace the broader American experience.
      • Undivided attention: With a max group size of six, you'll be able to engage directly with your docent, get in-depth answers to your questions, perhaps even tweak the experience based on how the conversation unfolds.
      • Historic sights: Pause in awe before colonial landmarks like the Old North Church and Paul Revere's house. Trace the network of alleyways known as the Blackstone Block, where John Hancock's brother once lived and the 1737 Boston Stone still stands. Stroll by the centuries-old Haymarket, where locals still buy fresh groceries.
      • Living stories: Against a backdrop of historic storefronts and pubs, and renovated tenements, warehouses and wharfs, discover how a rich mix of ethnic and cultural influences has shaped Boston's story. How English and Africans first settled this district, followed by Irish, Portuguese fisherman, Jews, and Italians. And how the Industrial Revolution changed all the rules.
      • Step into the present: If time allows, a walk down to the North End waterfront can conclude the experience. See stunning harbor views, a park commemorating Italian immigrants, and a new linear park left over from the Big Dig.
