      About This Fairbanks Tour

What better way to marvel at Alaska’s gorgeous, rugged scenery than by rail? Board your luxury dome rail car in Fairbanks for the approximate four-hour journey on the Denali Star route to the depot at magnificent Denali National Park and Preserve. During the ride you’ll enjoy Alaska’s renowned landscapes, including the Alaska Range and scenic Nenana River Canyon and crossing the Mears Memorial Bridge, one of the largest simple truss-type bridges in the world. Weather permitting, you may even catch sight of Denali, the tallest mountain in North America.

The 360-degree views from the dome rail cars as well as the small outside viewing platform ensure you witness the wild, natural scenery from every vantage point. Perhaps you’ll see some local wildlife, or even towering Denali. Your experience is enhanced by knowledgeable guides who will share the history of the region.

The comfortable, luxury rail cars offer first-class dining and bar service as well (additional cost), so you may enjoy a meal or drink as you take in the breathtaking views of Alaska’s interior.

      The Official Sport of Alaska

No surprise, really. It’s dog mushing, once the primary method of transportation in most of Alaska. The annual Iditarod is billed as “The Last Great Race on Earth” and is truly a one-of-a-kind event, traveling from Settler’s Bay to Nome in rough yet equally stunning terrain; sometimes the route may vary due to weather conditions. The teams average 16 dogs, and with many teams participating, that’s about 1,000 dogs departing Anchorage for Nome. Mushers come from all walks of life – doctors, lawyers, artists, teachers, and more – men and women, and from different countries.
