Pilot's Choice: Flightseeing Glacier Helitour with Guided Walk

About this Juneau, Alaska tour
Pilots usually keep these places to themselves. But this is your chance to discover and marvel at vistas seen by few. Your destination is the remote glaciers and peaks of the vast Juneau Icefield. Together with your pilot, you choose two different landings among the 36 named glaciers. Your pilot knows the weather and glacier conditions for the day, and this makes for your best possible flightseeing adventure.
Where will you go? Famed glaciers such as the Herbert, Taku, Norris, Gilkey, Hole in the Wall, or Mendenhall are a few of your choices. All offer sights ranging from the serene to the surreal: high alpine lakes, twisted ice spires, deep crevasses, towering rock sentinels, and spectacular icefalls. Wherever you go, your pilot's voice keeps you well informed about the flight and the sights. The breathtaking scenery speaks for itself.
Once you touch down on the ice, your pilot also acts as your guide as you continue your adventure on foot. (We outfit you with glacier boots to keep those feet warm.) During your two landings, you learn about glacier geology and the powerful forces right under your feet – forces that have been at work for thousands of years. You look around in awe at an untamed world of striking natural wonder.
Then it dawns on you. Your pilot has flown far from regular flightseeing routes. You're standing on a rugged, raw, and ever-changing river of ancient frozen water. You may be the first person to ever take this route. The first to stand on this remote spot in The Last Frontier. You know that expression: "feeling on top of the world." This is it.
Juneau what's unique about this city?
As you lift off from Juneau, check out its location. It has the distinction of being the only U.S. state capital not accessible by car. As a business and government center, you'd think that would be a problem. But not in Alaska. The city uses the only "road" into town – the Alaska Marine Highway ferry system. There's been talk of building a road for decades but it never goes anywhere. Even commuting in Alaskan has its share of adventure.
Please make your way over to the Mt Roberts Tramway at 490 S Franklin St.
Travelers must be able to navigate two 16" steps both in and out of the aircraft, and be able to walk a total of 70 meters.
