About this Juneau tour
The catamaran is yours. The possibilities unlimited. A sleek, smooth vessel and a passionate crew are at your command. You're not just going on an adventure – you're creating it.The wild stretches of coast beyond Juneau are carved with glacier-hewn fjords and carpeted with majestic forests. It's a place sure to ignite the imagination of your inner-explorer. And quenching your thirst for adventure – well, that's our quest.
Want to get close to Alaska's mighty whales and capture the best photographs of your life? Your captain knows where the magnificent Humpback whales feed and can steer to spots where you're sure to sight these amazing, acrobatic creatures. You may see them lift their tails high out of the water and slap them on the surface with an echoing "crack!" or breach their bodies clear out of the water and crash down with a thunderous splash.
Sharing the wilds of the Inside Passage with you are killer whales, Steller sea lions, Dall's porpoise, harbor seals, bears, and bald eagles. Cruise in for a closer look while your guide satisfies your curiosity about their behavior and habitat. Anytime you wish, step ashore in a place that intrigues you. Explore tide pools, hike through old-growth forest, or simply savor the sense of being in untouched nature.
If "hands-on" is more your style, try hauling crab pots or stop by a commercial fishing boat to meet the crew and see the day's catch. Everything about this day is wild, wonderful, and yours alone. And it'll forever stand alone in memory too – as the day you traded dreams for reality.
Traveling with half a brain
The Humpback whales that feed around Juneau all summer long migrate to warmer climes in fall. Many go to the USA's other non-mainland state, Hawaii, making a trip of over 3,000 miles that can take more than a month. It's believed they swim 24 hours a day. So how do they sleep? Humpies sleep with half their brain at a time, then they switch sides, relying on the awake side to protect them from sharks, boats, and other threats.
A white 10-passenger van (with teal triangle & eagle head graphic on the side) will pick you up in the bus & van loading zone located near the entrance to the Mount Roberts Tram building. This location is a short walk from most Juneau cruise ship docks. The exact meeting point is under the circular, pink "Dock C" sign, located between the Mount Roberts Tram and the Twisted Fish restaurant. travelers should be at this location at least 10-minutes prior to the departure time listed on voucher. An Allen Marine Tours representative (holding a sign indicated the tour name) will meet you.
